Volunteer Update and Activities: October 2026

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time in the Waterloo Seafront Gardens during September.

There were 14 at our Litter Pick in Beach Lawn, when we also litter picked the roadside outside, the grassed area towards the beach and Adelaide Garden.  We had 8 and 14 volunteers at our Tuesday and Wednesday garden maintenance sessions, when we continued to work on clearing the ornamental walls in Crescent Garden, the main steps and the central bed in Adelaide Garden.

We held our Annual Autumn Fete on Saturday 19th September, and although we all got completely soaked setting up in the morning, thankfully the weather improved as the day went on and lots of families came out to support us.

We raised over £1,000 which will be put towards our work in improving the Gardens.  We’d like to thank Tony Almond, Magill’s Nursery and Tesco for their support in giving us plants to sell and raffle prizes, and to everyone else who came along to help us set up, man the stalls and take down at the end of the afternoon.

Our volunteer sessions during October will take place on:

Saturday 10th October – 10.30am Litter Picking in Potter’s Barn

Tuesday 13th October – 10.00am Garden Maintenance in Crescent Garden

Sunday 18th October – 2.00pm Garden Maintenance in Beach Lawn and

Wednesday 28th October – 1.00pm Garden Maintenance in Crescent Garden.

Best wishes,

Janet Markland
