Volunteer Update and Activities: August 2026

Thank you to everyone who volunteered in the Waterloo Seafront Gardens during July.

We had nine at our Litter Pick in Adelaide Garden.  There were six of us at our Tuesday session in Crescent Garden when we worked on the walls along the bottom path (whilst trying to keep in the shade!) and six at our Sunday session in Beach Lawn where we worked on clearing some of the reeds and sycamore from the stream.  At our Wednesday session in Crescent Garden there were five of us and again we tried to keep in the shade working on the bottom path.

Before and after photo below:

The highlight on Wednesday was rescuing a 2-3 week old hoglet that was sitting out in the full sun.  We gave it water and worms which really perked it up and then Libby took it up to Freshfields Animal Rescue. The hope is that once it’s big enough to look after itself (they think the mother may have abandoned it because of little water and food being available) it will be returned to us to release back into the garden.
